Increasing engagement with focused, yet flexible content

Covenant House Toronto is the largest agency in Canada serving youth who are homeless, trafficked or at-risk. Their downtown facility has supported over 95,000 young people since 1982. Over 300 young people access Covenant House for food, shelter, employment, and health services every day.

Covenant House Toronto engaged Reason One in early 2019 to design and develop a site that could bring their new brand identity to life. They also needed a solution to address site performance and content management challenges.

With a cluttered structure and almost unusable mobile experience, the nonprofit needed a fresh, focused start to convey its true impact. To get there, we established a new content strategy and a component-based design system.

By identifying their organizational goals and the needs of their donors, our strategists introduced a clean, concise site structure. Our design and development team created 16 flexible content blocks to give Covenant House editors more control. Now, bold imagery, statistics, and donation calls to action can be added to any page.

Partnering closely with the Covenant House Toronto team resulted in a vibrant WordPress site that's responsive, easy to navigate, and easy to manage. Since launch, the site’s speed and user engagement (especially on mobile) has increased significantly.
